Daresbury Expressway Closure Update

Back home  /  News  /  Expressway Closure Update
road closed traffic diversion

We've recently had an update from Mike Amesbury MP regarding the upcoming Daresbury Expressway Closure after he's been in contact with Halton Borough Council with some concerns. Mike has agreed for us to share his email with the public:

Dear Arthur

I wanted to provide you with a further update regarding the Daresbury Expressway Closure. Following the initial response from Halton Borough Council, I further sent some concerns and suggestions about ensuring the measures in place will be the best available. Following this, HBC has responded and has agreed to ensure the following measures will also be in place:

  • We are preparing drawings to consult with Warrington on signage in their borough. We will look to agree wording / locations at Runcorn Road and Hobb Lane. This additional signage will also be in place at Pitts Heath Lane.
  • Redrow / Cox will provide traffic management officers at Pitts Heath Lane, Runcorn Road, and Hobb Lane for the first week to start with and then we will assess.
  • We will liaise with the Mersey Gateway Team utilising the VMS on the Bridge to highlight the closure.
  • Redrow / Cox are looking at removing the road closure on 15th July to assist with the Open Day at the Labs, although this may have to be under temporary traffic signals.
  • Redrow / Cox are preparing a plan and risk assessment to see if it is viable to allow pedestrians to walk through the site from Keckwick Lane to Sci Tech in a cordoned-off section and also an alternative walking route should this not be safe.
  • Redrow / Cox are preparing a letter drop for residents and businesses including Manor Park.

I hope that the above information is useful and I remain committed to working alongside Cllr Mike Ryan to minimise any disruption caused by the closure. Please if you have any additional concerns, then do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Mike Amesbury
